Odisha to decide fee hike in 3 weeks: SC

CUTTACK: The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the interim committee formed by the Odisha government to take a decision on the fee hike of DAV public schools in the state within three weeks.

The apex court has ordered the DAV school authorities to submit all financial records of the schools and other documents supporting the proposed fee hike before the committee within a week. "The court has directed the interim committee headed by retired high court judge K P Mohapatra to take a decision on the fee hike issue within three weeks after examining the financial records of DAV schools," said secretary of All Odisha DAV Parents Association Aptakam Mishra.

The next hearing will take place after four weeks.

The DAV authorities had enhanced the tuition fees from 2009-10 on the plea of implementing the Sixth Pay Commission for teaching and non-teaching staff. Challenging the decision, parents moved the Orissa High Court. On September 2011, the court had ruled against the hike. Then the school authorities moved the Supreme Court.
