CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has decided, in principle, to initiate punitive measures against all private schools which have not filled 25 per cent of their seats with EWS student under Right to Education Act (RTE). Affiliation of erring private schools will be cancelled along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Education Minister (Punjab), Sikander Singh Maluka, said that record of all private schools, specifically mentioning seats filled under RTE have been sought from District Education Officers. Maluka added that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal personally instructed all departments to ensure implementation of RTE policies.
