MANGALORE: Various like-minded organizations in Dakshina Kannada district are gearing up to make the implementation of Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act effective.
Organisations including Dakshina Kannada District Federation of Education Resource Centres and Padi - Valored, which are working towards growth in the education field, have decided to hold an interactive meeting and workshop for like-minded organizations, education experts and individuals to share their views for the effective implementation of RTE Act.

The Federation has already invited several organizations and individuals to take part in the workshop to be organised to discuss about 'RTE Act and role of civil society organizations' at Bharatiya Vidyabhavana here on July 14.
Federation president Umesh Nirmal told TOI that the main objective of holding a workshop is to oppose the privatization of education and to ensure the right to free and compulsory education to all children.
"It is unfortunate that children belonging to dalit, backward and minority communities are being deprived of their right to education because of the privatization of education. The entire process of education should be under the direct control of the government. The federation has already launched several initiatives to create awareness. The workshop will focus mainly on responsibilities of civil society in making the implementation of RTE Act effective," he said.
Resource persons Geo D'Silva and Renni D'Souza will deliver talk on RTE Act and other issues.
