KOCHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has increased the time duration for CTET examination from 1.30 hours to 2.30 hours. CTET exam is the teacher eligibility test for aspiring candidates in any central government schools or CBSE affiliated schools.
"Has increased the time duration for TET Examination from 1.30 hours to 2.30 hours for a period of six months or till the report of the committee for this purpose, is submitted and a decision is taken thereon, whichever is earlier", states a CBSE circular.

Accordingly, the schedule for CTET-JULY 2013 examination has been revised. Paper I examination will be conducted on July 28 from 9.30am to 12pm and paper II examination will be conducted on the same day in the afternoon from 2 pm to 4.30pm. The CTET comprises of two papers - paper I for teachers for classes I to V and paper II for classes VI to VIII.
The CTET was introduced in 2011 by the ministry for Human Resource Development to improve the quality of teaching in schools after the enactment of the Right to Education Act, 2009. CTET certification has been made mandatory to become a teacher for classes I to VIII in any central government school, while the CBSE affiliated schools can either recruit teachers based on CTET or the respective test conducted by the states. In fact, the Delhi Government too decided to adopt CTET for recruitment of teachers for government run and aided schools.
