RANCHI: The Ranchi district superintendent of education, Jayant Kumar Mishra, has issued directives asking principals of private schools in the district to submit a report on admission of children coming from BPL families.
Mishra said, "The report of admission of BPL children in 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 has been sought to find if private schools are taking BPL children or not."
He added that the admissions to nursery and preparatory classes in the city has already begun. According to section 12 (1) of Right to Education Act, 25% of seats in every private school should be reserved for BPL category children.
The principals have also been directed to put up a 3*4 feet flex board in front of their schools bearing information on reservation so that parents can get to know about it.
The forms for admissions in BPL category have already been issued by the DSE office. "The parents can fill the form and submit it both at the school and at our office so that we can follow up on the admission of students. If the student is not admitted, we can issue show-cause notices to the respective school," said Mishra.
The HRD department will also form a cell to resolve complaints related to RTE and the principals of private schools have been directed to do the same. Mishra said, "Following the directions of the HRD department for the formation of an RTE complaints cell, I directed the principals of all schools to do the same. Parents and students can complain to the cell if they think that RTE Act is being violated by the school."
