All the students from class I to V are now attending classes under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in the same hall. Muthuvel, a villager, said children of the village are very eager to study after three teachers were appointed. “They are unable to concentrate during classes as teachers will be simultaneously teaching other students in the same hall,” Muthuvel pointed out. The school has 1.5 acres of land, but majority of it is encroached upon. Another person from the village requesting anonymity claimed that a few people threatened them when they tried to remove the bushes.
“The building of the school is dilapidated and maintenance work should be done to ensure safety of the students,” he said.
The SSA Chief Education Officer and District Elementary Education Officer (additional charge) R Swaminathan said that the issue would be duly investigated and necessary action would be taken.
