The Karnataka Unaided Schools Management Association (KUSMA) is considering approaching the High Court over the provision of seats under the 25 per cent reservation quota under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
Counsel for KUSMA K V Dhananjay told Express that the association is waiting for an official response from the government. “If the response is not convincing, we will approach the court,” he said.
According to KUSMA, the Act mentions only the quantum of reservation and not the circumstances when it should be invoked. “Unless the seats in government, aided and local schools are filled, it shouldn’t be mandatory to provide seats in private schools,” said Dhananjay.
He said the government authorities have been unresponsive to KUMSA’s demands.
