Tough stand against errant teachers in Arunchal

ITANAGAR: Showing no leniency in its tough stand against absentee teachers, the East Kameng district authority has booked as many as 27 such educators under the 'No Work No Pay' rule and held back the salaries of another 25.

According to East Kameng deputy director of school education (DDSE), 14 teachers have been booked under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan's 'No Work No Pay' rule in June and 13 were booked in July for being found absent from duty.

"The salaries of another 25 teachers has also been held up," the DDSE said on Friday, and added that disciplinary action against a few teachers in Seppa town, who were found to be absent, was also being initiated. The DDSE said un-announced checking of schools in eight blocks of the district is being carried out to ensure smooth functioning of schools.
